Importance of research highlighted at seminar

The School of Natural Resources and Spatial Sciences recently hosted a research seminar to provide a platform for its academics to showcase their research and to highlight the importance of conducting research at an academic institution.

The Research Seminar initiative aims to develop and instil a culture of conducting research among the Poly’s academics and students and to create a platform to showcase the applied and basic research conducted by the School. This year, the event was held under the theme, “Natural Resources Management for Sustainability.”

The Dean of the School, Lameck Mwewa, said that research underlies the development of new knowledge and that it provides a greater understanding of the world around us. “The faculty’s research is primarily geared towards finding solutions to local challenges or issues,” he said.

The Research Seminar consisted of presentations based on research conducted by Poly academics as well as a presentation on the promotion of research.
