Norwegian students visit campus

A group of first-year Norwegian students from the Faculty of Education and International Studies at the Oslo and Akershus University College of Applied Sciences, recently visited the campus and attended a lecture by one of the Poly’s lecturers. The group, part of a contingent of 100 students studying towards the Bachelor of Development Studies degree at their university, visited the Poly while their peers were conducting similar studies in Botswana, Zambia, Tanzania, India and Nicaragua.

Dr Ibo Zimmerman, Deputy Director in the Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources Sciences, provided the students with typical causes of rangeland imbalances in Namibia during the lecture.

The group was led by Associate Professor in the Department of International Studies and Interpreting, Dr Hilde Arntsen, who said that the field work completed by the students in Namibia will count toward 50% of the marks of their studies.

She said the students also looked at education for Khoisan people and studied early childhood and pre-school issues.
