Rugby players make NUST proud

Three students from the Faculty of Natural Resources and Spatial Sciences, Arno Von Wielligh, Millan van Wyk and Gino Wilson (pictured right), were selected to represent Namibia in the national under-20 rugby team participating in the World Rugby Under-20 Trophy Competition currently taking place in Zimbabwe.

Their peers in the Faculty are naturally proud of their achievements. The Head of the Geo-Spatial Sciences Technology Department, Celeste Espach, said: “It makes us proud to see many of our students performing so well in extra-mural activities. It also makes us proud to know they can find a balance between studies and sport because a healthy body houses a healthy mind.”
Although NUST has limited space for sports activities, arrangements are in place for students to make use of sporting facilities around the city. This has resulted in the birth of more than ten sports clubs.
“Sports clubs contribute to the social, academic and physical well-being of students and they create an environment that complements the central teaching and research mission of the Institution, while building in each student, a sense of personal worth,” Espach said.
