Usiku has tended gardens for 32 years

Petrus Usiku, pictured right, has been awarded a Certificate of Appreciation for being one of the University’s longest serving employees.

He started his employment at the Institution 32 years ago, and during the World Arbor Day commemoration organised by the Natural Resources Management students and staff, the 60 year-old was honoured for his dedication with a Sterculia tree planted on campus.

Usiku says he is passionate about his job and he is always willing to go the extra mile. “I have reached retirement age, but I feel it is not yet time for me to leave. I would like to spend at least another five years here,” he remarked.
